REGISTER FOR BWC'S TASTE OF YIDDISH
Klezmer Jam

Do you want to learn the foundations of klezmer music? Do you love to play klezmer music and want to help grow the local community of klezmorim? Join the Boston Workers Circle’s monthly drop-in klezmer jam! We will develop and play a shared repertoire. Let's make music together whether you're playing the melody, the secund (accompaniment), or contributing to the rhythm section. We'll practice playing the music by ear, a traditional form of learning klezmer. Reading music is not required.

This is a workshop and jam and is ideal for musicians who are proficient with their instruments and want to learn or develop their klezmer repertoire, technique, and style. We will be meeting once a month and all types of instrumentalists are welcome. The BWC monthly workshop and jam is designed to be an inclusive and welcoming community especially for new participants as we work to create an environment where everyone is supported and empowered to participate.

Schedule:
We will be meeting the second Tuesday of the month:

Payment
Our programs are on a sliding scale, with no one turned away due to lack of funds. Additionally, we partner with Mass Cultural Council on the Card to Culture program, which specifically offers 50% discounts on Boston Workers Circle programs to EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders. If you indicate that you are a Card to Culture participant through EBT, WIC, and/or ConnectorCare, a 50% discount will be applied to your total.

Suggested Tuition
Our workshop has a suggested donation on a sliding scale of $18-$40 and includes the workshop and jam. If you are joining for the jam only, the suggested donation is $10-$20. All donations go to support our teacher, use of the space and BWC’s cultural work. Our sliding scale is designed to make our programming accessible and, in the spirit of mutual-aid, to enable people with more to give to help offset the cost for those who have fewer funds. However, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
